Gloria Cycles upcoming single ‘Religious’ is featured on forthcoming Paramount movie & trailer for ‘My Last Five Girlfriends’, a Brit flick rom-com, to be released nationwide March 19th.

The film is set to be the surprise smash hit of Spring 2010 after receiving fantastic reviews at 2009's Tribeca Film Festival & Sundance Film Festival, whilst the video for the track will be shot by the director of the movie.

What would the soundtrack of your life sound like? Post a video or comment, confess and listen...

Confessions is an audio-visual project by Teitur, composer Nico Muhly and the dutch ensemble Holland Baroque Society. About a year ago these young and talented artists started a challenging project: composing music for youtube clips.

Even the comments were used as an inspiration for the lyrics and in a short time four wonderful songs were created, all matching the video's in a surprisingly brilliant way.

Now it is time for 'Confessions Part Two'...Teitur and Nico will compose music to the videos you upload. The only condition is that the video should show something personal as their project is called “Confessions”. It could be something like ‘I bet you never knew this, isn’t this beautiful or this is my sleepy aunt drooling on her sweater kind-of-thing’.

The video can be 5 minutes and it would be best if the main focus is one event. Not too fast and a bit slow would be perfect!

Also the filmer should be okay for Nico & Teitur to use it, and certainly you will get the credit for your work.

All in aid of charity...

Betty is to play at the Artival event in London on August 22nd.  The one day arts festival involves live music, poetry, drama, comedy and live art sessions. 

The event is run by and in aid of the homeless charity SHP.  SHP was set up over 30 years ago to help support London's vulnerable homeless population.  Today the charity works with 2,000 people a year across 13 London boroughs, providing a wide range of accommodation and support services to prevent homelessness and promote social inclusion. For more about SHP visit their site here. 

The event takes place at the Queen on Hoxton in Shoreditch, London.  It runs from 12pm - 6pm and entrance is free.  Click here for more details.

This non-camping festival is the first free music, comedy and art event of '09!  It features 4 stages of music, a comedy stage and an outdoor art exhibition.  There are over 60 acts, bands and exhibitors appearing and this lovely event is all free!!  It's at the Dingwalls in Camden and doors are at 14:00.

It's all for great causes with proceeds going to Cancer Research UK, the Polycystic Kidney Disease charity and the Mcmillan Hospice.

A full UK tour beckons for the singer this Spring...

Following on from a spellbinding show to a rapturous audience in London earlier this month Teitur will embark on a full UK tour in May and June.

The tour will kick off in Brighton at The Hanbury Club on May 14th and end up in Glasgow at the King Tuts on June 7th, calling at a further 14 towns and cities along the way all over the country!

Teitur will also be playing at the Union Chapel, London, on Thursday February 26th supporting Ane Brun.  Teitur will play a 30 minute solo support slot and then later join Ane on stage to perform songs they co-wrote.

A guest appearance from the singer...

Following a wonderful performance in London last Thursday (Feb 12th) Teitur jets off to New York City to perform with Nico Muhly.  Teitur will be guest at Nico Muhly's show at the Lincoln Center on February 18th.

Nico Muhly has recently composed the score to the Oscar nominated film The Reader staring Kate Winslet.

Teitur's album The Singer is released today!  This is the first album of Teitur's to be released in the UK. 

An exceptional album it has received fantastic reviews, to mention a few;  The Independent gave it 5 stars and made it album of the week, NME gave it 8/10, The Fly gave it 4.5/5 and called it "utterly inspiring."

Teitur captivated audiences last week at a London show at the Monto 229 where he performed tracks off this album.  Tietur will return to the UK shortly so watch this space.

And the winner is...

Teitur has been nominated for Best Danish Singer/Songwriter for The Singer album at the Danish Music Awards (DMA's) which are the Danish equivalent of the Grammies.

He is up against two of the biggest artists in Denmark; Tim Christensen and Tina Dickow.  This is the same award and category that Teitur won in 2007.

The awards take place in Copenhagen on February 28th.

Teitur has moved onto the B playlist at BBC 6 Music! It's great news and means the Faroese national shall be played across the board except for the Breakfast show.

Teitur has made the C playlist at XFM and BBC 6 Music as well as the Absolute Extreme radio playlist!!

This is great support for Teitur and an excellent start for him in the UK.  This year will be a busy one for the Faeroese national; his album The Singer will be released over here and he'll be hitting our shores touring hard!  With early support like this the future is looking bright!

Gloria Cycles recorded their first live video last week set on a theme park ride in Kent! The day involved the band being strapped to the ride, being spun around a lot and then trying to stop their breakfasts making a second appearance!  The production team are locked away editing it as we speak, keep an eye out for the finished video!

Gloria Cycles will be supporting up and coming Irish songsters Fight Like Apes and those northern monkeys The Rascals in November and December.  The Fight Like Apes gig will be a bit of a homecoming for the cycles as they will have just got off supporting Cage The Elephant on the northern part of their tour.  The gigs is at the Audio in Brighton on November 19th and costs a mere £5.  It's part of the Levis Ones To Watch which I guess means you should go and watch.

An abassador's reception for the singer...

Teitur played a short set at the Danish Embassy yesterday to a largely industry crowd.  Prior to Teitur's performance guests were treated to drinks and canapes in the Ambassador's private residence all served by waitresses wearing 'Catherine' badges in honour of Teitur's song Catherine The Waitress.

The Ambassador was present, mingling with guests and introduced Teiturs acoustic performance.  Teitur treated the crowd to songs off his forthcoming album The Singer all played on the ambassador's grand piano and his acoustic guitar.

But this year why not try something different.  How about a nice Gloria Cycles gig?  It’ll be an enjoyable change from the usual Halloween antics.

The Cycles are playing at the Providence on October 31st in Brighton.  They'll be sharing the stage with My Federation, HerelDeDuke and The Lyrebirds.  Doors are at 8pm and it’s £2 on the door.

Because the charity raised £50,000 and the band had a great gig as well…

Gloria Cycles played at Christies as part of the Heart and Design charity auction.  The event was a real success as on the night the charity made £50,000 with a lot more expected to come in once the remaining lots are sold.  It was an unconventional gig for the band and their great performance went down really well with the bidders and created a great atmosphere in the auction house!  With all that money raised the band obviously helped make the bidders dig deep into their pockets as well!

The band are back soundtracking Jack Osbourne’s stunts…

After Astronaut Swapshop appeared on an episode last week the band will have more of their music played on the show.  The tracks used to accompany Jack Osbourne swimming with sharks whilst wearing a wet suit made of steak (or something along those lines) will be Chewed Up and the soon to be released No Zeros.  The songs feature on episode 8.

The show is shown on Wednesdays on ITV2 at 9pm.

Gloria Cycles and The Cloud Room: music to jump out of a plane to…

No the Cycles won’t actually be doing crazy stunts themselves (although do keep your eyes peeled for their next video) but will be having their song, Astronaut Swap Shop, played on episode 3 of the show.  The episode is scheduled to be transmitted on October 9th at 9pm.

It’s a cool show and worth watching, especially that episode as The Cloud Room will also have their track, We Sleep in the Ocean, played whilst Jack Osborne white water rafts off the world's highest bungy jump into shark infested waters whilst fighting Shaolin monks, or something like that anyway.

Teitur is on Songs for Tibet...

Teitur has a track on the charity album, Songs For Tibet : The Art Of Peace, which came out exclusively (for 2 weeks ahead of full release) on itunes last week. It was obviously timed to coincide with the Olympics.

The album features Sting, John Mayer, Alanis Morrisette, Dave Matthews etc... and all the tracks are unique versions of songs. Teitur's is a specially recorded version of his song "All My Mistakes" (which was originally on 'Stay Under The Stars"), with Teitur and featuring a vocal choir called Tarira. Teitur produced it and it was mixed by Valgeir Sigurdsson (of Bjork fame). We have donated all the artist royalties to the Foundation.

The album went top 3 on itunes in the US (still top 10), top 10 on itunes in Japan and is in the itunes charts in pretty much every territory of the world.

The Cycles are worldwide champions...

Gloria Cycles were officially named as the worldwide winners of the Emergenza Festival Competition that has taken part over the last 6 months featuring the best up and coming artists from around the globe.

The Brighton based band won the right to compete at Taubertal Festival in Germany by beating off all competition from all the UK's best up and coming artists over a period of 5 rounds with the UK final being played at London ULU in front of 1,000+ fans.

Gloria Cycles then took to the stage this weekend in Germany in which they were pitted against the 17 other respective winners from each country involved in the competetion. Gloria Cycles came, saw and promptly conquered by being announced the winners of the pan European competition performing the victory set in front of a 25,000 strong crowd and winning various opportunities along the way.

together behind a cause to overcome heart & lung disease. Heart & Design has been
established to support Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust and all profits raised will be donated to
the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust for a CT scanner.

Alongside Gloria Cycles, Norman Jay will be DJing at the event and works being auctioned include pieces
by an eclectic range of designers including - Marc Jacobs, Giles Deacon, Tom Dixon, Eimilio Pucci, Swarvoski and

Feedback from a very happy lady...

When the opportunity comes along to buy new Bowling For Soup goodies, and enter a competition to meet the band, then you’re not going to pass that one up are you? Not that I ever win a thing, especially not something this special……..

So, it was a stunned but very exited girl that caught the train down to London (with slightly bemused partner in tow) to go VIP at O2, and then to spend the day with her favourite band.

I’ve never gone VIP to anything ever before. It was fantastic (no queues at the bar or loos for a start!). And Bowling For Soup, playing to an audience many of whom were seeing them for the first time, were equally fantastic. By the time we were ready to pop backstage and meet the band, I’d gone from stunned to starstruck. At my age I should really be over that by now…….

But they were great – and continued to be the next day when we met them at the Electric Ballroom, and proceeded to follow them around, taking in the sights (Jaret in his boxer shorts) and sounds (some unrepeatable) of a day in the life of Bowling For Soup.

It’s not everyday you get the opportunity to see your favourite band play three times in two days. And to be side of stage for two of those shows. And to hang out, talk to, and drink beer with the guys that make the music that you love so much. And to find out that they are really nice, great guys.

So all we can say is many, many thanks to Jaret, Eric, Chris and Gary for letting two complete strangers invade their space for so long, to everyone involved who looked after us, and to A&G records for giving us such an unforgetable opportunity, and for being so generous.

An exciting new addition to the A&G roster...

We are happy to announce the signing and welcome singer songwriter from the Faroe Islands ‘Teitur’ to the A&G roster of artists. Teitur who opened this year’s main stage at Roskilde Festival in Denmark as a support to Radiohead, has been a huge success in Scandinavia over the past few years. Teitur a growing star in his field has many famous admirers to his name, John Mayer and K T Tunstal to name a few, who have all raved about the singer songwriter’s talents.

A&G will be introducing Teitur to the UK with his first release over here in October, which will be sure to impress music accolades across the country. He will also be performing a selection of dates in October/November to coincide with the release.

A packed crowd watched as they won the Semi Final leg of the competition last night!

Should the Brighton based band win in the final they will appear on the bill of an established festival in Germany later this year.

Their continuing success in the contest, which pits bands from all over Europe against each other, provides a good indication of the momentum that is building within the band. They have come a long way since Sarah, A&G's guru of all things A&R, first saw them in Brighton a year or so ago.

"After feeling increasingly perplexed by the infiltration of sodding laws and restrictions in the UK and having received 3 parking tickets in the space of 1 week, a friend dropped a little gem of a demo to me that brightened all things doom n gloom. The first track on which was a radiant and liberating jangly pop track entitled 'New Law.'

As a matter of gratitude, I headed down to the coast to check them out.

Watching the band live cemented all that I expected and I was immediately taken in by the dynamics of the band on stage. The blend of soaring harmonies, the manipulation of melodies with guitars, drums and bass and Kenny's observant and reflective lyrics had me hooked."

On her early impressions, A&G set about finding ways and means to help support the band and aid their development. Adept in the art of begging, borrowing and, ahem, borrowing again we provided them with a means to studio & rehearsal time.

Not needing to be asked twice, the band worked solidly on writing new songs, pushing their own boundaries in the studio and rehearsing to their hearts content. It was natural continuation that led A&G to ink a publishing deal with the band, the advance of which they promptly spent on a tour bus so they could tour! tour! tour! Yet another sign of their unrelenting ambition and work ethic.

It was little surprise then when the band announced that they we're setting up their very own label 'Wendy Bikes Records' to release a limited 7" single that will coincide with their first full UK tour in June.

The band's debut single Vegas will be released June 30th... the sisters, Gloria and Wendy, are doing it for themselves!

All is well in the Lou Rhodes camp as the European tour is going brilliantly with Lou playing to packed crowds each night. So far Lou has visited Holland, Belgium and Germany and still has dates in Germany, Belgium and Portugal left. Rave reviews boost the ‘doll’s profile in the US...

It’s all kicking of for the Sohodolls in America. In the past few weeks they’ve been getting rave press reviews. Here are a couple of examples:

Absolute punk.net said “Great Britain has a new electrifying synth-pop band that has hit North America's shore lines with all the acid glam-pop regalia of Shiny Toy Guns and the punk rock moxie of The Soviettes….The music is both street savvy and club chic, keeping away from falling into a mundane routine that often plagues synth-pop albums.”

First Coast News (Florida) said “‘Ribbed Music For the Numb Generation’ us a sleazy dark romp into the synthpop underworld that will leave you breathless and exhausted. It’s a slinky, hedonistic listen with enough fuzzed out indulgent songs that probably should be banned in about 40 states.”

It appears the ‘dolls are also taking over the US airways with excellent radio and TV support. The radio station K-Roc has been championing the band along with a whole host of US college radio stations including WUML – University of Massuchusetts, WISU – Indianna State University and KCR – San Diego State University. MTV Latin America and Fuse On Demand are just a couple of the TV channels that have had the band’s videos on high rotation.

American fans haven’t been neglected on the live front either as the band are set to  fly across the pond for some US dates soon.

Thank you to everyone who came down and supported them.

Last week the band successful progressed to the second round of the Emergenza Music Festival Competition after a winning performance at The Bull and Gate, London. For anyone who missed it there is a link to see photos from the gig on their myspace page.

Emergenza is the largest gig organiser for unsigned bands around the world. They put on gigs in many countries allowing bands to compete for a place in the international final in Germany. There are several rounds to win in order to get to perform in Rothenburg, Germany, and the competition works in the style of a ‘battle of the bands’ with bands receiving votes from the audience on the night. A slot in the international final is a chance for bands to compete to have their album professionally produced and recorded, new instruments, a slot on the US Warp Tour as well as lots of US and European promo exposure.

The second round will be during April in London. Keep an eye out for the exact date to be announced soon then make sure you come along.

Bowling For Soup's forthcoming live DVD is to premier at the AFI Dallas International Film Festival on March 31st. The DVD, entitled "Bowling For Soup: Live And Very Attractive", was filmed on their hugely popular 2007 UK tour.

The DVD is to be released in the summer, watch this space for the official release date. Our American friends can buy tickets to the premier; see the band's myspace page for details!
