As part of a Kerrang special, Bowling For Soup members Jaret and Erik have provided us all with their own very original version of 'How To Write A Track In 5 Minutes'. This shows the two band members at their most entertaining, having fun and putting together a great piece of spontaneous Bowling For Soup music!

Sohodolls’ popularity in Japan seems to be ever increasing as the band have been allocated 65 plus video plays this week on VMC – Japans version of MTV.

The bands album is to be released this month In South Korea also, as the bands momentum continues to make a worldwide impact.

Feedback from a very happy lady...

When the opportunity comes along to buy new Bowling For Soup goodies, and enter a competition to meet the band, then you’re not going to pass that one up are you? Not that I ever win a thing, especially not something this special……..

So, it was a stunned but very exited girl that caught the train down to London (with slightly bemused partner in tow) to go VIP at O2, and then to spend the day with her favourite band.

I’ve never gone VIP to anything ever before. It was fantastic (no queues at the bar or loos for a start!). And Bowling For Soup, playing to an audience many of whom were seeing them for the first time, were equally fantastic. By the time we were ready to pop backstage and meet the band, I’d gone from stunned to starstruck. At my age I should really be over that by now…….

But they were great – and continued to be the next day when we met them at the Electric Ballroom, and proceeded to follow them around, taking in the sights (Jaret in his boxer shorts) and sounds (some unrepeatable) of a day in the life of Bowling For Soup.

It’s not everyday you get the opportunity to see your favourite band play three times in two days. And to be side of stage for two of those shows. And to hang out, talk to, and drink beer with the guys that make the music that you love so much. And to find out that they are really nice, great guys.

So all we can say is many, many thanks to Jaret, Eric, Chris and Gary for letting two complete strangers invade their space for so long, to everyone involved who looked after us, and to A&G records for giving us such an unforgetable opportunity, and for being so generous.

Gloria Cycles will be at them all plus more!

These are some of the festivals the band shall be playing at this summer. With a summer tour being planned as well Gloria Cycles are getting all geared up for a very busy few months! They will be playing all over the country at a whole host of local venues as well as joining the UK festival circuit.

Festivals confirmed so far include Brighton's The Great Escape Festival, Liverpool Sound City Festival, Sugar Hill Festival near Swindon, Beachdown Festival in Brighton and Offset Festival in Essex. Keep your eyes peeled for Gloria Cycles appearing on other festival bills!

With a tour diary jam packed with dates there's no excuse for not catching the Cycles this summer! See you down the front!

UK tour later this month…

The Cloud Room will be heading to the UK this October for a 6 day tour.  The New Yorkers will be bringing their indie rock to the UK in support of their soon to be released Hey Now Now single which will be released on 7” on November 5^th.  You have probably heard the single all summer as it featured on a Pepsi Max ad campaign featuring Brazilian football star Ronaldinho.  The dates can be seen below and tickets can be bought from seetickets.com and ticketweb.co.uk.  See you there!

The band are off to Poland…

The Cloud Room are heading over to Poland later this month and as well as playing the Paprika Club in Sopot, Poland, on August 30^th they will play the Sopot Festival two days later on September 1^st supporting Norah Jones.  The band will then be heading to South America for promotion and live dates.

The band will be heading to Liverpool in May…

Gloria Cycles have been confirmed for the Liverpool Sound City Festival which takes place in Liverpool on May 27-30.  The festival takes place all over the city’s creative centre and promises to be very exciting with not only the typical gig venues being used but also car parks, cellars, warehouses, churches, grade 1 listed heritage sites and boats! 

The festival boasts a stellar line up including Lightspeed Champion, The Wombats, The Whip, Laura Marling, Mystery Jets, Soko, Cage The Elephant and Hercules And Love Affair amoungst others.

The band are busy in the studio...

The Cloud Room are currently beavering away in the studio, working on a new album and will be back on the road in the near future.

In the mean time check out their latest musical offering; a speacial Valentines Day '08 fake 7". Described by the band as a "very strange and wonderous thing" it's "not quite vinyl, not an MP3" and can only be played at their website. The A side is a cover of Huggy Bear's Febuary 14th featuring punk pioneer Allison Wolfe (Bratmobile and Partyline) and the B side is a version of Leonard Cohen's Memories with Alison Pierce (The Pierces). Enjoy.

An electro-glam-rock fest to bring the roof down in Camden Town…

Hopefully no real roofs will be falling down as Camden’s suffered enough recently but Sohodolls will be playing a gig at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London, on April 3rd. The band will be playing with fellow electro rockers IAMX, Suzerain and Alive On Stage and it promises to be an awesome night. Doors open at 19:30, it’s also got a 14 plus age policy so younger fans can see the band live as well. Visit their myspace page for tickets and see you there!

Gloria Cycles: Coming to a festival near you this summer!

Exciting news from the Gloria Cycles camp as the band have been confirmed for The Great Escape festival taking place in Brighton on May 15^th to 17^th. The Cycles will be sharing a stage with some of the finest new bands including Vampire Weekend, The Fratellis, Lightspeed Champion, Pete and the Pirates, The Wombats to mention just a few of the 200 plus bands performing. The Great Escape festival takes place over 25 venues around Brighton.

This won’t be the band’s only festival appearance this summer as more will be announced soon, watch this space!

Stripper is the sound of the Gossip Girl trailor…

Having already had their music appear on Gossip Girl in America, the Sohodolls’ single Stripper is now the official music for the Gossip Girl UK adverts soon to be broadcast on ITV2. Gossip Girl focuses around the lives of young, rich New York socialites and all the scandals that go with them.

The band are jetting off to Rome…

Gloria Cycles are very excited about playing in Rome on May 11^th. They will be representing the UK in the Rome semi final leg of the Emergenza music competition. Don’t forget you can catch the band at the UK second round of the Emergenza competition at the Purple Turtle in Camden, London, on April 13^th. See you there!

Rave reviews boost the ‘doll’s profile in the US...

It’s all kicking of for the Sohodolls in America. In the past few weeks they’ve been getting rave press reviews. Here are a couple of examples:

Absolute punk.net said “Great Britain has a new electrifying synth-pop band that has hit North America's shore lines with all the acid glam-pop regalia of Shiny Toy Guns and the punk rock moxie of The Soviettes….The music is both street savvy and club chic, keeping away from falling into a mundane routine that often plagues synth-pop albums.”

First Coast News (Florida) said “‘Ribbed Music For the Numb Generation’ us a sleazy dark romp into the synthpop underworld that will leave you breathless and exhausted. It’s a slinky, hedonistic listen with enough fuzzed out indulgent songs that probably should be banned in about 40 states.”

It appears the ‘dolls are also taking over the US airways with excellent radio and TV support. The radio station K-Roc has been championing the band along with a whole host of US college radio stations including WUML – University of Massuchusetts, WISU – Indianna State University and KCR – San Diego State University. MTV Latin America and Fuse On Demand are just a couple of the TV channels that have had the band’s videos on high rotation.

American fans haven’t been neglected on the live front either as the band are set to  fly across the pond for some US dates soon.

The Cloud Room’s single, Blackout! is released today and preceeds the release of The Cloud Room’s self titled debut album out later this month. Blackout! has gained some great press reviews as well as being single of the week on XFM London, Scotland and Manchester. It’s going to be a Bowling For Soup filled Summer.

The summer festival season will soon be upon us and Bowling For Soup have been confirmed to play the O2 Wireless festival in London on July 6th, the Oxygen festival in Ireland on July 12th and T in the Park in Scotland on July 13th.  As well as catching them at the summer festivals keep an eye out for some regional dates which will be announced shortly. Unfortunately T in the Park is now sold out but a few Oxygen and O2 Wireless tickets are still avaliable. See you down the front!

Bloom is out in Germany today.

Lou Rhodes’ second album, Bloom, has been released in Germany today and Lou has been getting a lot of positive press attention and coverage recently in the country surrounding this release.  Lou will be flying over to Germany soon for a tour that also takes in Portugal, Holland and Belgium.  Dates for the tour have been announced and can be seen in the ‘On The Road’ section of the website.

Catch the ‘dolls all around the country in Febuary and March.

The Sohodolls have announced a full UK tour taking place during Febuary and March.  The band will be playing with Hanoi Rocks except the London date on March 3^rd where they’ll be playing with Uh Hu Her.

Blackout! is record of the week!

The Cloud Room’s single, Blackout!, has been made record of the week on XFM's Scotland Xposure Show and has also made the XFM Wales evening playlist.

The single will be released on March the 2^nd and will precede the band’s self titled debut album released on March 17^th, everything can be purchased from our shop on this website.

Last week the band successful progressed to the second round of the Emergenza Music Festival Competition after a winning performance at The Bull and Gate, London. For anyone who missed it there is a link to see photos from the gig on their myspace page.

Emergenza is the largest gig organiser for unsigned bands around the world. They put on gigs in many countries allowing bands to compete for a place in the international final in Germany. There are several rounds to win in order to get to perform in Rothenburg, Germany, and the competition works in the style of a ‘battle of the bands’ with bands receiving votes from the audience on the night. A slot in the international final is a chance for bands to compete to have their album professionally produced and recorded, new instruments, a slot on the US Warp Tour as well as lots of US and European promo exposure.

The second round will be during April in London. Keep an eye out for the exact date to be announced soon then make sure you come along.

The Soho Dolls have had a song feature on the new US show Gossip Girls. Gossip Girls is a teen drama revolving around the lives of young New York socialites and airs on the American CW channel.
